Another Patient Regained Health Through Implant-Free Microsurgical Intervention

Our patient, Mr. Ismail Atalay, 52 years old, who came from the city of Zonguldak, had been experiencing lower back pain, numbness in both legs, and inability to walk long distances for a long time. All healthcare institutions he had visited previously had offered him an intervention using implants (screws) for spinal stenosis decompression. As a result of the physical examination and MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging), it was determined that the patient had narrowing of the spinal canal at the L3-L4 and L4-L5 levels. During the physical examination, tenderness during leg movements and neurological deficits were also identified, after which the patient was explained in detail the reasons for the necessity of surgery, and then with the patient consent, preoperative preparation for the corresponding intervention began.

The preparation for the intervention was carried out in strict compliance with all precautionary measures related to the COVID-19 pandemic, after which the patient underwent microsurgical spinal stenosis decompression without implant (screw) placement. After the completion of the operation, the patient was admitted to the surgical department to rest, and 3 hours after the end of the operation, in the presence of Dr. Oguz YOZEL, our patient was put on his feet and mobilized.

After one day of postoperative hospitalization, Mr. Ismail Atalay was discharged in good general condition and returned to the city of Zonguldak driving by himself. We thank our patient for trusting us and choosing our hospital.
