It Is Never Too Late to Say Goodbye to Excess Weight!

Mrs. Safizhe Idrizi, 62 years old, from North Macedonia came to our center for obesity treatment and bariatric surgery.

She shared with us that for many years she had wished to say goodbye to her excess weight, which was already seriously threatening her health condition and creating difficulties in performing her daily activities. During the consultation with Op. Dr. M. Yonder DOLAP – Specialist in General Surgery and Deputy Chief Physician of Corlu Vatan Private Hospital, the patient was given detailed explanations about the appropriate treatment for her, the essence of bariatric surgery, and the expected benefits. Based on her physical condition and the results of body mass index calculations, Mrs. Safizhe Idrizi was recommended the "Sleeve Gastrectomy" procedure.

After the consultation with Op. Dr. M. Yonder DOLAP and with the patient consent, the hospitalization and preoperative preparation stage began. Initially, detailed examinations and investigations were performed to evaluate the current condition of the patient, which included consultations with a cardiologist, an internal medicine specialist, a pulmonologist, a psychiatrist, a nutrition and dietetics specialist, and blood tests. After the fibrogastroscopy was performed, it was confirmed that there were no medical obstacles to performing the surgical procedure.

The next day, the intervention was successfully performed by Op. Dr. M. Yonder DOLAP. After a two-hour laparoscopic procedure, 3/4 of the patient stomach was removed and she was returned to her room to rest. The four-day hospitalized postoperative monitoring of Mrs. Safizhe Idrizi was under the direct supervision of our nutrition and dietetics specialist – Cigdem Kiral. On the day of the patient discharge, it was determined that during her stay at the hospital she had lost a total of 8 kilograms.

After the necessary arrangements for her follow-up examinations were made and detailed explanations about the proper nutritional regimen during the postoperative period were given, Mrs. Safizhe Idrizi was discharged from our hospital smiling and in good general condition.

During her entire treatment and stay at the hospital, Mrs. Safizhe Idrizi was always smiling and in a cheerful mood. We would like to note that we will always remember her for her cheerful and radiant personality. We wish her much health and happy moments in her new life.
