Since 1981, our hospital has been an important referral center in Corlu for providing healthcare services. Our Brain and Neurosurgery Specialist – Op. Dr. Abdullah Temizkan stated that today, the diagnosis and treatment of cervical and lumbar hernias are performed with much more effective and safe methods compared to the past. He also stated that with the introduction of technological innovations and the rich experience accumulated in interventions for the treatment of spinal cord tumors, there is no longer room for chance in this field.
Our 59-year-old patient was admitted to our hospital for examination by Op. Dr. Abdullah Temizkan – Brain and Neurosurgery Specialist, with complaints of pain in the lower back and right leg, which had increased drastically in the last two months. After a physical examination and MRI, a 1.5 cm tumor at the L4 level was detected. After thoroughly informing the patient about the details of the necessary intervention, we proceeded with preoperative preparation.
On the morning before the intervention, Covid-19 tests were performed, and after receiving the test results, the patient was hospitalized in the surgical ward, which has maximum security regarding Covid-19. In the afternoon of the same day, the intervention was performed, aimed at removing the tumor formation using a microsurgical approach. The intervention lasted approximately 2 hours, after which the patient was placed in his room and monitoring began. On the same day, our patient was able to independently perform his daily needs.
Our patient was discharged on the second day after hospitalization, in good general condition.
