Treatment of Kidney and Ureteral Stones

Our patient from the Republic of Bulgaria visited us with complaints such as severe and pulsating pain in the area of the left kidney and flank, radiating downward, with a colicky character. The case was taken over by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Murat RIFAIOGLU – Specialist in Urology. After a detailed physical examination and radiological investigations, the presence of a kidney stone lodged in the upper part of the ureter was identified. Our patient was recommended "Ureterorenoscopy."

Ureterorenoscopy is an endoscopic method in which access is gained through the natural openings of the body with the help of an optical instrument (ureteroscope), and an examination of the ureter and the collecting system (calyces and renal pelvis) of the kidney is performed.

During the surgical intervention, the stone blocking the patient left kidney was fragmented using a Holmium laser and was completely removed using the RIRS (Retrograde Intrarenal Surgery) method. After one day of postoperative monitoring, our patient was discharged without pain and in good general condition.

We wish our patient robust health and a long life filled with happy moments.
